Located in the East Midlands and with over 30 years in the industry, Haskell & Co. Limited offers the whole range of industrial and commercial refrigeration services from initial design through to installation and planned maintenance as well as repairs.

We have experience of a vast range of refrigeration equipment from small commercial equipment (such as bottle coolers, display cabinets, ice machines, cellar coolers, undercounter or upright fridges/freezers, walk-in cold rooms) all the way up to 10,000 pallet capacity cold stores including ammonia systems.

We can also supply a variety of off-the-shelf parts and equipment as well as bespoke packaged refrigeration systems.

Our experienced refrigeration engineers normally operate within a 100 mile radius of the office covering Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and the West Midlands. Design & installation

Whatever your industrial and commercial refrigeration requirements, from a small walk-in cold room up to a 10,000 pallet cold store, Haskell & Co. Limited can provide a full design and installation service including electrical services and insulated enclosures to create a solution that will meet your needs. Examples of recent projects include:

Three-chamber ammonia blast freezer capable of freezing from fresh 108 pallets to -20° in 24 hours.
Hydrocarbon secondary refrigerant system for 800 pallet cold store.
Temperature control of fish market using secondary refrigerant system.
Complete refurbishment of meat cutting and distribution plant.

Once your refrigeration installation is complete we can then provide follow on planned maintenance visits to ensure that the system continues to perform efficiently and reliably.

Planned Maintenance

All refrigeration equipment needs to be regularly serviced (planned preventative maintenance) in order to ensure that it runs as energy efficiently as possible and to prevent the risk of unplanned downtime. Something as simple as a blocked condenser can cost a lot of money over time – either through the refrigeration system using more electricity to achieve the same cooling capacity or through the restricted airflow causing the compressor to overheat and ultimately fail.

At Haskell & Co. Limited, we can put together a service plan to suit your requirements. We will schedule in the visits and will send you a report once the service is complete. Regular planned preventative maintenance will also help keep you compliant with F-Gas Regulations as, in accordance with statutory requirements, refrigeration systems containing more than 5te (tonnes equivalent) will have to be checked for refrigerant leaks by qualified engineers at regular intervals.

Supply of Equipment

Through our established network of suppliers, we are able to source off the shelf parts and equipment from most major refrigeration manufacturers – from commercial refrigeration equipment such as chilled and frozen display cabinets, refrigerated counters, bottle coolers, ice machines, blast chillers and modular cold storage through to larger industrial refrigeration components such as evaporators, condensers and compressors (screw, scroll and reciprocating). Where off the shelf refrigeration equipment is unsuitable, we have the facilities and technical expertise to design and install bespoke solutions.

In addition to the above, we can also supply and fit ancillary equipment such as controls, data loggers, valves, pumps, motors, probes, drain heaters and much more.

Repair Services

As well as design & installation and planned maintenance, Haskell & Co. Limited offers a fully comprehensive repair service. Our highly experienced and multi-skilled engineers provide a 24/7/365 call-out service covering a huge variety of equipment and systems. Our fleet of service vehicles are fully equipped with parts to rectify common faults and, where possible, we aim for a high percentage of one-visit repairs without the need to return with further parts.

We currently undertake repairs on behalf of a number of customers including food processing and storage facilities, hospitals, wholesalers, pharmacies, manufacturers, cafes, breweries, schools, convenience stores, pubs, restaurants, butchers, bakers and many more.

F-Gas Regulation

Haskell & Co.

F-Gas Regulations require operators of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems containing F-Gases to ensure that equipment is checked for refrigerant leaks at defined intervals and that refrigerant added to or removed from systems is recorded. Also, any leaks that are found have to be repaired and then re-checked within specific timescales.

Haskell & Co. Limited can help your company to stay compliant with these regulations in a number of ways.

We can set up and maintain all the necessary paperwork on your behalf and also schedule in planned leak checking activities, repairs and re-checks when required.
We can, if applicable, retrofit your current equipment with an alternative refrigerant not affected by the ban either as a result of a leak or as a planned measure.
Alternatively, depending on the age and condition of the equipment, we could provide you with a quotation to supply and install a new system.

From 1st January 2020 a requirement of Regulation 517/2014 comes into force, where it will become illegal to fill systems with virgin refrigeration gas (freshly manufactured gas) if they meet the following conditions:

If the refrigerant has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 2500 or more (Commonly used refrigerants affected are R404A, R422A & R442D)
The system contains an amount of refrigerant has which is equivalent to 40 tonnes or more of CO2 (approx. 10.2kg of R404A, 12.7kg R422A & 14.7kg of R422D)

If your equipment meets the above criteria, you will no longer be able to receive virgin gas from January 2020, however, you are still able to operate your equipment. If a system develops a leak or the gas becomes contaminated, only reclaimed or recycled gas can be used. Reclaimed and recycled gas however is also set to be banned from 2030.
